python-gtkglext1 has been added to Debian unstable in the last week: http://packages.debian.org/unstable/python/python-gtkglext1
The glchess packaged version is slightly better as it builds the bindings for all the installed versions of Python (though I suspect this change will be added to the Deb Unstable version soon). Hopefully it will be picked up for Feisty+1?
