Public bug reported: I have noticed that gnome-shell CPU usage shoots up to over 100% for a few seconds shortly after logging in, completely freezing the shell for a good 10-20s.
This happens on a migrated Unity 7 > Ubuntu session as well as on a completely new Ubuntu session (eg a user just created to test this). Ubuntu 17.10 (upgraded from 17.04), Ubuntu session (Wayland).
