I got no output when I issue that command. I issued the command "sudo apt-get install gnome-shell-extension-ubuntu-dock" without the quotes and logged out then logged back in and the extension was loaded. Thank you for your help.
What are possible reasons why this wasn't installed when I did a do- release-upgrade?
