Public bug reported:
When using timed login with the configuration
/etc/gdm3/custom.conf
# GDM configuration storage
#
# See /usr/share/gdm/gdm.schemas for a list of available options.
[daemon]
# Uncomment the line below to force the login screen to use Xorg
#WaylandEnable=false
# Enabling automatic login
# AutomaticLoginEnable = true
# AutomaticLogin = user1
# Enabling timed login
#TimedLoginEnable = true
#TimedLogin = tv
#TimedLoginDelay = 10
[security]
[xdmcp]
[chooser]
[debug]
# Uncomment the line below to turn on debugging
# More verbose logs
# Additionally lets the X server dump core if it crashes
#Enable=true
after 10 seconds the screen goes black and only a reboot is possible to
get the GUI working again. If canceling the timed login and selecting
the same option everything works.
Additional infarmation: tv is a user starting kodi as single app:
/var/lib/AccountsService/users/tv
[InputSource0]
xkb=us
[User]
XSession=kodi
SystemAccount=false
/usr/share/wayland-sessions/kodi.desktop
[Desktop Entry]
Name=Kodi
Comment=This session will start Kodi media center
Exec=kodi-standalone
TryExec=kodi-standalone
Type=Application
