I do have the same bug and ran apport-collect 1800352 on my system. It also happens if I use the dropdown menu at the right of the top bar to lock the screen.
Workaround: I can send my use the "pause"-symbol to start hibernation/suspension (I'm not sure which) and after waking up the OS again I'm able to log in again. I added a couple pictures.
