If possible, please install 'openssh-server' and log into the machine
from a second machine via the 'ssh' command. Now find out the PID of
gnome-shell (the one running as yourself, not gdm), and type out this
command without yet pressing Enter:
apport-cli --hanging -P PID
Now reproduce the freeze on the first machine and while it is freezing
press Enter on the above command on the second machine. If it doesn't
work then retry with:
sudo apport-cli --hanging -P PID
That will hopefully create a new bug report showing where it is
freezing.
