@Daniel Ach! Sorry, I posted to the wrong bug report. Please
disregard comments #2 through #5 (when processing this bug report).

** Description changed:

  Whenever the "bluetooth settings" screen is opened, an assertion failure
  is logged from gnome-shell, followed by many video-related lines from
  gdm-x-session (syslog extract attached). The first part looks like this:

  gnome-shell[2872]: g_environ_setenv: assertion 'value != NULL' failed
  /usr/lib/gdm3/gdm-x-session[2251]: (II) modeset(0): EDID vendor "NEC", prod
id 26342
  ...

-
  STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
  1. tail -f /var/log/syslog  #in a terminal
  2. In the upper-right top of the screen:
-      Speakericon->Bluetoothicon->Gluetooth settings
+      Speakericon->Bluetoothicon->Gluetooth settings

  RESULTS: BT settings window openens, and many messages logged to syslog
  EXPECTED RESULTS: No assertion errors logged (unclear why anything should be
logged due to simply opening a window).

+ NOTE: Please disregard comments #2 through #5 below, they were intended
+ for a differenb bugrep.
