Public bug reported: Currently the file manager does not provide a way to create new files out of the box. The user has to manually touch a file to ~/Templates using a terminal emulator.
This default behaviour can be frustrating especially to new users who might not know about the touch command at all. Creating new text files is a common operation and it should "just work" ootb without the user having to do research on the whole GNOME template system. ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1861742 Title: [Feature request] add an empty text file template by default To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1861742/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
