We find almost all leaks are caused by extensions so please start by
uninstalling all of these:

'caffe...@patapon.info',
'gsconn...@andyholmes.github.io',
'remove-dropdown-arr...@mpdeimos.com',
'status-area-horizontal-spac...@mathematical.coffee.gmail.com',
'compiz-alike-windows-eff...@hermes83.github.com',
'custom-hot-corn...@janrunx.gmail.com',
'transparent-top-...@zhanghai.me'

and then restart. If the high memory usage continues then please check
the 'Extensions' app, and check that there is no subdirectory in your
home directory called:

  ~/.local/share/gnome-shell/extensions
