After reboot on Settings>Sound I set all volumes to zero, Output Device is HDMI 
/ DisplayPort2 - Built-in Audio 
but clicking on any 'Alert Sound' volume is NOT muted and seems at max. 
Sound from Firefox is muted, Playing a movie.MOV with totem sound is muted, 
sound from Aisleriot solitaire is NOT muted.
sound comes from speakers connected to motherboard.
my sound devices are:
