I've tested and I can verify that nautilus 1:42.6-0ubuntu1 from jammy- proposed fixes the bug per the above test case, and otherwise nautilus seems to continue work well and as expected (I did some general testing: browsing to different directories, opening different kinds of files, checking file and folder properties and permissions, ...).
