Thanks for the bug report. It appears the kernel '5.15.0-1034-intel- iotg' is too old for the integrated GPU of 'i7-1260P'.
Did you install that kernel manually? Or perhaps install some IOT image instead of Ubuntu Desktop? I would have expected a fresh install of Ubuntu Desktop 22.04.2 to come with a newer kernel: https://ubuntu.com/download/desktop so please install that instead. ** Tags added: jammy ** Package changed: mutter (Ubuntu) => linux-intel-iotg (Ubuntu) ** Summary changed: - [intel] gnome-shell Wayland sessions fail to start on Intel systems (Failed to lock front buffer on /dev/dri/cardN: drmModeAddFB2WithModifiers failed: Invalid argument) + [intel] gnome-shell Wayland sessions fail to start on intel-iotg kernels (Failed to lock front buffer on /dev/dri/cardN: drmModeAddFB2WithModifiers failed: Invalid argument) ** Changed in: linux-intel-iotg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Medium -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to mutter in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2026887 Title: [intel] gnome-shell Wayland sessions fail to start on intel-iotg kernels (Failed to lock front buffer on /dev/dri/cardN: drmModeAddFB2WithModifiers failed: Invalid argument) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-intel-iotg/+bug/2026887/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
