Problem:
The wayland display server is not enabled by default (even) if the
nvidia driver is version above 510.
There is a minor bug in: /usr/lib/udev/rules.d/61-gdm.rules
How to solve:
Edit /usr/lib/udev/rules.d/61-gdm.rules by replacing the line:
ATTR{version}=="[5-9][1-9][0-9].*", GOTO="gdm_prefer_xorg"
with
ATTR{version}=="[5-9][1-9][0-9].*", GOTO="gdm_enable_wayland"
and add the following new code a little below:
LABEL="gdm_enable_wayland"
RUN+="/usr/libexec/gdm-runtime-config set daemon WaylandEnable true"
GOTO="gdm_end"
** Affects: gdm3 (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
