Public bug reported:

When switching between workspaces with ctrl-alt-arrow, there is an
indicator that pops up with a bright dot highlighting which workspace is
being switched to. When switching between workspaces by scrolling the
mouse wheel over the "show applications" icon, the indicator pops up but
doesn't draw the bright dot to indicate which workspace is becoming
active.
