These bugs are probably related, so I will list them here.
After a recent update, there is a bug where when working with text, when the
caret is placed in any position, the position starts to change a few characters
earlier. Also when inserting text, sometimes there is a freeze. At one point,
when trying to resize a text layer, GIMP ended with an error

In recent updates, things started to freeze a lot when working with
text (probably when working with layers, I work mostly in text), the
text box works incorrectly
