Attached is the output of lshal. "dev" only appears in open/save gtk dialogs, not in nautilus or the places menu.
And shouldn't there be a File System shortcut in gtk open/save? I know there was in gnome 2.16. Without it, it makes things like searching the root filesystem with gnome's "Search for files" completely impossible.
