In a recent update to 24.04, gnome-shell has started crashing when
logging in with non-local users:

Specifically, the host is configured to authenticate using Entra Id via
Himmelblau. NSS and PAM respond correctly, and ssh for the user is
working as expected. GDM spins, then crashes though, with that error.
Perhaps this is happening for other configurations also, such as
Winbind/SSSD?
I have a VM snapshot of Ubuntu 24.04, and if I rollback to mid-February
of 2025, the issue goes away. As soon as the latest updates are
installed, GDM starts crashing.
