Public bug reported:
Today GIMP can’t open jpg or png files any more giving the message ‘Plug-in
crashed: file-jpeg’ after updating Lubuntu 24.04.
After noticing this I installed GIMP in Virtualbox with Lubuntu 24.04 that
hasn’t been updated for some time and checked that it opened a jpg file
flawlessly.
Then I updated Lubuntu, rebooted, opened GIMP and tried to open that jpg file
again. Now this malfunctioned and the message mentioned above was shown.
