Public bug reported:

On Ubuntu 26.04 LTS with GNOME Shell 50.1 and NVIDIA driver 595.71.05
open modules, the GNOME Wayland session becomes stuck or unreliable
after locking the computer and trying to return to it. The graphical
session is on tty2. I had to switch to tty3 to inspect the machine.

  The journal repeatedly logs:

Failed to lock front buffer on /dev/dri/card1:
gbm_surface_lock_front_buffer failed
    meta_frame_native_release: assertion '!frame_native->kms_update' failed
Cursor update failed: drmModeAtomicCommit: Invalid argument

There is also a GNOME Shell crash report in /var/crash/_usr_bin_gnome-
shell.1000.crash with Signal 11 for gnome-shell 50.1-0ubuntu1.

  Expected behavior:
After locking the computer, the GNOME lock screen should accept input and
return to the existing session normally.

  Actual behavior:
The GNOME Wayland session does not return cleanly after lock. The user has to
switch to another TTY. GNOME Shell/GDM may still be running, but the graphical
session is not usable or is unstable.

  Hardware/software:
Ubuntu 26.04 LTS, kernel 7.0.0-15-generic, GNOME Shell 50.1-0ubuntu1,
libmutter-18-0 50.1-0ubuntu2, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti,
nvidia-driver-595-open 595.71.05-0ubuntu0.26.04.1.
