I think the problem may have been fixed upstream by Flathub removing the
offending tags from the metadata file. I just ran the command "flatpak
update --appstream", and I see that the metadata file was generated with
a new timestamp, now without the offending tags.

Ivar: Possibly, you can now run "apt-get update" without any crash,
since it seems to trigger an update of the Flathub metadata and may do
so in time to avoid the subsequent crash. Otherwise, you can try running
"flatpak update --appstream" manually first, then "apt-get update". With
the crash gone, maybe the impetus for "upgrading your way out of the
problem" via "apt-get upgrade" is no longer there, but it should be
possible.
