** Description changed:
- while copying files from another disk to /home folder, the progress bar
- on the nautilus icon in ubuntu dock does not update. however, the
- progress icon within nautilus does update.
+ [ Impact ]
+
+ The Files app is supposed to report the progress of any long file
+ operation as a progress bar in the Ubuntu Desktop dock.
+
+ This feature is partially broken: it shows an empty progress bar
+ whenever a long file operation is detected, but the progress bar never
+ receives any updates. Eventually the progress bar is hidden when the
+ task finishes.
+
+ [ Test Plan ]
+
+ 1. Open the Files app
+ 1. Copy a large file from one drive to another
+ -> The operation must take longer than a few seconds, or the Files app will
+ not bother showing a progress bar at all.
+ -> This might be a copy over network, a copy over USB, or a copy within the
+ same drive if large or slow enough.
+ 2. Verify that a progress bar appears over the Files app icon in the dock
+ 3. Verify that the progress bar progressively fills in, together with the
+ progress reported in the application's bottom-right panel.
+ 4. Verify that the progress bar disappears shortly after the operation has
been
+ completed.
+
+ [ Where problems could occur ]
+
+ Problems could manifest in the Files app, default file manager and file
picker dialog provider in Ubuntu Desktop.
+ In the worst case, the app may crash during a file operation risking data
loss.
