Thank you for your replay, Sebastien. I am using the Compiz that comes with Feisty, with the supplied NVIDIA drivers.
The reason I felt this was a bug in control-centre (more specifically, in gnome-settings-daemon, the program I believe to be responsible for the volume level display) is that compiz is working fine in all other situations, and beryl worked fine on my previous edgy install. Since gnome-settings-daemon is the one drawing the alpha-transparency image that freezes the system, I thought it was most likely to be this causing the problem. If not, please feel free to move this bug to a more appropriate location, or advise me to do the same. Thank you very much for your help so far. -- New composite volume display freezes computer for several minutes https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/99752 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for control-center in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
