I screwed up and didn't add the following information: System: Mac G4 Cube Speakers: USB, came with the system. Rhythmbox plays back audio CD from external CD drive, no sound, although the CD was earlier tested under 6.06.1 LTS and replayed just fine (sound OK, etc.)
