There is no way to create entries that look like this in
/etc/network/interfaces from the network admin tool, or from ad-hoc
networking.

Specifically there is no way to add the 'restricted' keyword to the set-
up when a key is added.
This is required for WiFi on my Fujitsu stylistic st4110p (prism2 or
orinoco, doesn't matter what i use on feisty. on edgy only the orinoco
drivers worked) to work correctly with the slightly wonky AP set-up I'm
using.
The problem is that this makes it impossible to use this interface in
roaming mode, so i need to manually configure it for roaming and
manually reenter the restricted keyword and key into the
/etc/network/interfaces wwhen i'm done.
Also, the dual interfaces (wifi0 and wlan1) are really confusing for new
users. Is there a way to determine in a generic manner that
configuration should only be done on the actual wlanX interface?
