Did some more digging.. the last entry in kern.log when the above command is excuted looks like this
Jun 3 01:18:21 gerry-desktop kernel: [ 362.399025] PPP generic driver version 2.4.2 Jun 3 01:18:21 gerry-desktop kernel: [ 362.445381] tun: Universal TUN/TAP device driver, 1.6 Jun 3 01:18:21 gerry-desktop kernel: [ 362.445387] tun: (C) 1999-2004 Max Krasnyansky <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Jun 3 01:20:22 gerry-desktop kernel: Inspecting /boot/System.map-2.6.20-15-generic This is what consistently shows up when i run the test. Perhaps the Universal TUN/TAP driver needs to be taken a look at. Not sure if the failed tests above had this driver in their system, i believe it was default on my installation. Of possible interest is that i have a wired ethernet card, eth0, which is supplying my connection, and a wireless card in my system. I mention this because my logs get bombarded with msgs about wlan0. I have now removed the card and will report if that resulted in any changes to the problem. P.S. the grep --devices-skip worked well to avoid this problem. -- terminal window fork bomb https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/116351 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
