I am also experiencing something similar. If I boot my laptop with my usb stick already inserted, then I sometimes end up with two "usbdisk" icons on my desktop. I can eject one of them but not the other one. If I wait until after it has booted, then things behave properly. I'm running feisty with all patches applied (up to last night). My /etc/fstab contains:
/dev/sdb1 /media/usbdisk vfat users,rw,nosuid,nodev,quiet,shortname=mixed,uid=1000,gid=1000,umask=02,iocharset=utf8,noauto 0 0 Here is the requested command output and an attached tarball with various logs. 06/11 19:09:48 $ id uid=1000(jrw) gid=1000(jrw) groups=4(adm),20(dialout),24(cdrom),25(floppy),29(audio),30(dip),44(video),46(plugdev),109(lpadmin),111(scanner),114(admin),1000(jrw) rc=0 ~ 06/11 19:10:24 $ id hal id: hal: No such user rc=1 ~ 06/11 19:10:27 $ id haldaemon uid=106(haldaemon) gid=110(haldaemon) groups=110(haldaemon),24(cdrom),25(floppy),46(plugdev),120(powerdev) rc=0 ~ 06/11 19:10:29 $ uname -a Linux nalini 2.6.20-16-generic #2 SMP Thu Jun 7 20:19:32 UTC 2007 i686 GNU/Linux rc=0 ~ ** Attachment added: "all debugging info requested by https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingRemovableDevices, including hal debug output" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/8056173/hal_info.tgz -- USB Harddrive displayed multiple times https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/68744 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for gnome-volume-manager in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
