Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

To reproduce:
1. Select an old file from the local computer. (Right-Click Properties says
"Modified time 2002" for instance)
2. Open any samba share (with nautilus)
3. Copy the old local file to the share (Just drag it into nautilus)
4. Right-Click properties on the new file (on the share) gives "Modified time
2007"; or whatever the current time is;
  even though the file hasn't been modified!

This same problem also occurs when copying files to the samba share with
smbclient.
-----------
Oh, I forgot:
If you use windows explorer to copy a file to the samba share, the modified
time stays the same.
