Well, did you take a look at Clearlooks[1]? Someone mentioned it at the Wiki[2], I tried it and it totally blew me away! It's based on Bluecurve, but got more modern and fresh looks. It hardly looks like Bluecurve anymore, besides some pixmaps and the menus. The author is also very actively working on it and preparing a website including a voting booth. The next version will have properly rounded scrollbars[3] and some other improvements, for example he's looking into improving the comboboxes, which traditionally look a bit like a mess[4] in Gtk. It might sound overzealous, but my honest opinion is that this engine simply smokes the competition (including Plastik, which is very popular for good reason), the author is independent of any commercial vendor and it's still rather new, so not many people know about it yet.
