The HIG mailing list is long dead; please file bugs against the HIG in bugzilla and/or discuss them either on the usability mailing list or on #usability.
I added a comment on this existing bug: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=111772 Hopefully, who ever has write access to the HIG can update it.
