If an OS has two globally-accessible search fields by default, which
search different sets of information, people will frequently go "argh"
after entering their search in the wrong field.

Conversely, if an OS has two globally accessible search fields by
default, which search identical sets of information, people will
frequently go "ummmmmm" as they try to decide which one is closest to
the cursor.

In other words, either the main menu should subsume Deskbar, or it
should not have a search field at all.
