Hmm, I built seahorse module on a machine without vala, immediately after checking it in in order to test this. What are the messages you experienced when building without vala? That would help fix that bug. The objections were as to the stability of vala's interfaces, and these did not play into the use in seahorse. If required I can revert the vala code commited to seahorse. The commit represents a few thousand lines of C code. It'd certainly be a set back for seahorse meeting 2.24 goals, but not the end of the world.
