So far we agree. But one sound can't rule them all. If I'm cooking in the kitchen, I like hearing a small beep when I get mail. I also like to hear a sound when someone sends me private message on IM. BUT, I want to be able to differentiate those. I don't run to check for every email, but there's a sense of urgency to IM.
