I just wanted to point out that the git-serve plugin for bzr is *not* an in house hack, or a hack at all, it is part of the bzr-git plugin. For people who are not aware of it, Bazaar is mainly an object model, while Git is mainly a repository format coupled with a network protocol. What's wrong with mapping an object model to an actual format/protocol ? Concerning the asserted flaws in John's proposal, the only valid point, is that it will need testing as the implementation is not very mature yet, all the other assertions are just plain wrong.
