I’d prefer to have bug-buddy access directly the debugging symbols in an online database. That should be feasible using FUSE over e.g. webdav (with gvfs-fuse maybe). However, to make this possible, gdb needs to be changed to stop reading the entire files just to obtain a checksum. AFAICT this is the major reason why you need to download the whole debugging symbols to obtain a backtrace. -- .''`. : :' : We are debian.org.
