Given that there wasn't much opposition to enforcing a more rigid whitespace regime I have now prepared this patch for gnome-common http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=581930 This is an easy way to enforce whitespace cleanliness and also allows folks to overwrite it if they want to.
