I don't think that's true. I was at the planning session for "coming
changes in GNOME" at UDS Maverick, and the plan of record was to
include GTK+ and GNOME 3.0.

Talked to an ubuntu dev, their problem is they don't have enough free
space on the liveCD to have version 2 and 3 of all libraries. And I
doubt we'll be able to port all app that they ship on the liveCD to gtk3
in time... Or could we?
