If the problem was only stuffing values in GSettings, we'd probably already have a Web Accounts panel by now. Load up a twitter application such as Gwibber, and try setting it up to use a Twitter or Facebook account. The problem is single sign-on, sharing of application API keys (when possible), and making sure that the underlying components are set up for things like OAuth.
