Hi everyone,

The application period for Google Summer of Code (GSoC) closed yesterday, and
we received 99 applications! Many of them are very good, with many applicants
having been in touch with a possible mentor for the project and completing a
required contribution to the module they are applying to work on.

If some student was in touch with you about submitting a GSoC proposal please
register as a GSoC mentor in Google's system called melange and add yourself to
[email protected] , which is the list we use for communication about
GSoC.

http://www.google-melange.com/gsoc/homepage/google/gsoc2012 (you need to both
register as a mentor, then request to be a mentor with the GNOME organization)
https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/soc-mentors-list

Once you register in melange, please score the proposals, comment on them
(privately to detail your score and publicly if you want the student to make
any updates), and indicate which proposals you are willing to mentor by
clicking "Wish to Mentor" button. You can add yourself as a possible mentor to
multiple proposals (we will check in with you which ones you want to mentor the
most when we know how many proposals we can accept) and you can also ask other
members of your team to sign up as mentors :).

The scoring guidelines were detailed in this e-mail:
https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/private/soc-mentors-list/2012-March/msg00011.html

It is *very important* that you add yourself as a possible mentor to all
proposals you are willing to mentor by Monday, April 9 6pm UTC because the
number of proposals that have mentors set is used as an important criteria by
the GSoC slot allocation algorithm that will run on Tuesday.

Let us know if you have any questions and thanks for all your help! Please
continue any discussion related to application specifics on
[email protected] only.

Thanks!
The GNOME GSoC admins ( https://live.gnome.org/SummerOfCode2012 )
