sounds good. I remeber the post Glynn did about this topic and
read through it. Makes sense to build it. 

Do you expect issues with porting (?) this to *-Solaris?

o would be good if we can give early feedback to the developers..
o would be good to see if our new attributes and client for the 
  CIFS-world have to go into gio/gvfs..
o check if the gio gvfs design honours *-Solaris capabilities

..this could be again a "we are ahead" :-)
