Hello desktop-discuss - (please cc me on replies, as I'm not on this alias)

I'm a User Experience designer in the Network AutoMagic (NWAM) project
http://opensolaris.org/os/project/nwam/ and our goal is to simplify and
automate network configuration, which includes things like Proxy
configuration, via a GUI on Solaris.

On nwam-discuss we've been discussing the possibility of using some of
the proxy configuration dialogs Solaris already has (see screenshots:
http://opensolaris.org/os/project/nwam/stateoftheart/SolarisExpress/) By
using, I would expect being able to launch the proxy config dialogs from
the NWAM GUI.

NWAM has a feature of being able to switch "Environments", where
environment contains settings such as proxies and name services. So you
can switch between say your Work environment which has work proxies, and
Home environment, which may not use proxies at all.

Given that, can NWAM use the Netwprok Proxy Preferences dialog to be
able to edit proxies, but not actually apply them immediately?

Also, a different question, I notice in Solaris 10 that the location and
name of this similar dialog is different than on Solaris Express. The
name is "Network Proxy Configuration" and it's located under Preferences
 > Desktop Preferences > Proxy Configuration. Is the naming and location
currently in Solaris Express going to be the final going forward?

Thanks!
Ann
