It is being set by this script during the session startup script.

   /usr/dt/config/Xsession.d/0015.sun.env

Note that once GNOME 2.26 integrates into Solaris, GDM will stop
using the /usr/dt/config/Xsession.d scripts and instead use the
/etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc.d scripts, which do not set MANPATH at all.
So this problem should go away for GDM users once GNOME 2.26
integrates.

Might be good to file a bug against CDE login (category cde/cde/login)
to remove the setting of MANPATH from that script if you think it is
important to fix this for CDE login.  Though since it is in the
process of being EOL'ed, it will go away eventually.
