Dick:

If you look at the GDM configuration file, /usr/share/gdm/defaults.conf
you will see the default commands for reboot and shutdown are:

RebootCommand=/sbin/init 6
HaltCommand=/sbin/init 5

So, that should be fine, I'd think.

Note that on Solaris 10, GDM isn't as smart about using the best
shutdown/reboot commands.  If using S10, you need to modify the
/etc/X11/gdm/gdm.conf file to set the commands as above.
