Part of it is that people downloading from the homepage expect a certain level of support, which the OpenSolaris builds won't have since we don't have enough QA/support staff to exhaustively test the OpenSolaris builds. What I'd like is to be able to auto-detect the platform and then redirect the user to the contributed builds page where they can download it, which at least gets them to the right place and sets up the expectation that this is a community contributed build.
