   What kinds of slowness ? For eg. Slow login/ Slow Firefox startup/ 
Sluggish Menu response/ Anything else ?
   Is anything hogging your CPU ?

   Have you tried the following tweaks:

   svcadm disable basicreg
   pkgrm SUNWupdatemgru
   pkgrm SUNWbrg
