Yes, for example netbeans crashes with JRE 6 and runs fine with JRE 5 (SXCE 61). After installation there is a symlink /usr/java -> /usr/jdk/jdk1.6.0, thus JRE 6 is the system default. I replaced this symlink in order to get netbeans (more precisely the actual SunStudio 12 beta) to run. This message posted from opensolaris.org
