With the release of OpenSolaris 2008.05, Visual Panels is available
in the IPS package repository. Assuming you have an up-to-date copy
of the package catalog (if not, 'pkg refresh'), you can install
Visual Panels by running as root:
# pkg install OSOLvpanels
# svcadm restart manifest-import
and waiting for the services started by manifest-import to settle
down.
The Visual Panels control panels will then be available under the
System->Administration menu on the Gnome desktop. (In some cases a
restart of gnome-panel or logging out and back in again is required).
