Currently, there may be experimental patches for evolution outside the
JDS tree that may work, but they may require modification to work with
the OpenSolaris sources. In the coming 5 years, there will be a decline
in the Windows marketshare under 90%, and until then understandably,
companies will continue to be unwilling to cater to the needs of
employees who chose to use Linux, OpenSolaris, and Mac OS X clients. I
cannot give you a direct answer if it will work or not, some
configurations, especially more secure domain integrated setups will be
near impossible to plug in to. Various projects, such as Winchester (AD
integration), native CIFS project, and Samba 4 may result in useful ways
to interact with Windows systems not currently available for general
consumption through cross polination, resulting in better
interoperability with general domain tasks. Don't hold your breath, put
pressure on them if you can, otherwise use xVM and Windows XP (Or Vista)
and use Exchange itself, it works decently. Of course your processor
needs HVM support, so if you're not on Core 2 or Opteron, you're really
out of luck for doing it from within OpenSolaris.
