I reinstalled my desktop this afternoon with snv_111b. Most things are
working fine, but one exception is a pair of screen-savers: carousel and
glslideshow (though other GL screen-savers seem to work fine). Both these
two work fine in mini-preview mode (in the small window in xscreensaver-demo)
but in "maxi-preview mode" (i.e., when I click the Preview button from
xscreensaver-demo), then they both fail. See below for the critical bit
of truss output.
I've got the 180.44 NVidia driver, which came with the 111b install. One of
my Xorg buddies suggested that I downgrade it to 173.whatever (173.14.09 was
what I had on my snv_95 system prior to the reinstall, and it worked fine;
173.14.18 is what is available on Sun's internal NVidia driver page). But
before I go thru the hassle of trying that, I thought it might be wise to
check here and see if anyone else has run into the same or similar issues.
Oh, and in case it matters, my frame buffer is a Quadro FX 3450, which again
was working before the reinstall.
