James, I just checked the VirtualBox bugtracker. Apparently shared folder access will be fixed in 1.6.4. There are two open tickets relating to that on the VirtualBox bugtracker. However these relate to either VirtualBox or the guest OS crashing on shared folder access. Not quite what I am experiencing, but hey, let's see if it gets better in 1.6.4.
As for the vnic issue, there is also a ticket, it seems that the constant evolution of crossbow and the output format of some of the dladm commands is causing problems with the script that comes with VirtualBox 1.6.2 on OpenSolaris.
