I too have a similar problem on my computer at home, Solaris 10 with
Firefox 3.0.1 (tarball install). But slightly different. I'm using CSW
evince, and when I click on a pdf file it does nothing. I've also set
the preferences to point to evince, it just ignores it.

While I'm on the Subject of FireFox, I also have problems printing.
Both for Sparc and X64. On my home computer (X64), whenever I go to
print anything Firefox just locks up and I have to kill it and restart
it. Same thing if I go to set the preferences. I did a truss on the
printing and there is a floating out of bounds or something like that
(it's at home, I'm here at work). At work on my Sparc, I'd love to get
it to remember to point to "gtklp" so at least I can use cups. Every
time I go to print it just says "lpr".
